Thanks to their dominant performances across the weekend of February 1-2, three of the four PACWEST Conference Athletes of the Week handed out on February 6 went to CapU Blues student-athletes. Across the last two weeks, all four CapU teams are a combined 14-2, and three are currently ranked nationally in the CCAA: men's volleyball at #9, women's basketball at #13, and men's basketball at #15.

Alessia Brutto, Women's Basketball

The rookie was an all-around force during a big series between ranked teams, helping the Blues to a pair of crucial road wins over Camosun. On Friday she packed the stat sheet with 17 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, three blocks, and two assists. She followed that up on Saturday with another great performance of 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and a block. Across the two games she shot 50.0% from the floor and 80.0% from the free throw line.

Zarley Zalusky, Men's Volleyball

After battling through injuries over the past several weeks, third-year middle Zarley Zalusky showed that he is back to form with a strong weekend against the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades. On Friday he had 14 kills with a .480 attack efficiency, as well as three digs, two service aces, and a block in the Blues’ five-set victory over the Cascades. He followed that up with eight kills on a .294 attack efficiency to go along with three digs, 2.5 blocks, and an ace in a three set sweep.

Meghan Koven, Women's Volleyball

The fourth-year student athlete delivered a strong performance on both sides of the ball in a weekend split with the CCAA’s ninth ranked UFV Cascades. On Friday she posted 10 kills, 11 digs, and three block assists, and then on Saturday her seven kills, 18 digs, and one block assist were crucial in helping the Blues to a 3-0 sweep over the Cascades.
