Milt Williams, CapU Athletics Director
The Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to welcome Alison Funk to CapU. Ali joins our team as the new Active Health Programmer.
Ali earned a Bachelor of Recreation and Health Education from the University of Victoria. There she played an active role in the campus community and provided leadership in recreation, program planning, recreation management, service marketing, and health promotion. She has worked for Action Schools BC, which aimed to increase physical activity and healthy eating to students while providing opportunities that support both students physical and mental health. In this role she worked with different schools across the province, developing health promotion plans, creating solutions for schools to meet their specific community needs, and working towards creating a healthier campus environment.
Ali will oversee campus recreation and active health programming by planning, developing and implementing non-academic courses, activities, and events; overseeing and evaluating external facilitators and programs; promoting all recreation sport, healthy active living and leisure programs, and special events for all ages and abilities on campus. Ali will be responsible for collaborating with the various University stakeholders across campus regarding recreation, exercise/wellness activities and to offer coordinated wellness and recreation opportunities to students and employees on campus and in residence.
Please join me in welcoming Ali! She can be contacted at the Center for Sport and Wellness.
