Originally from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Jamie Johnson is now in her fifth season as the certified athletic therapist at Capilano University.

Jamie is a certified athletic therapist with an MSc in rehabilitation science and is a rehabilitation specialist in Vancouver.

Starting her career with provincial-level athletes on Vancouver Island, she quickly climbed into professional sports after being named as one of the athletic therapists with Rugby Canada and their National Men’s 7s team. Shortly after, she moved to the mainland when she landed a position with Vancouver Whitecaps FC as the only female on their medical team. In her five-year stint with the Whitecaps, she focused heavily on soccer and was named to Canada's Women’s U17 National team, touring with them to various tournaments including the World Cup Qualifiers in Grenada in 2016.

Jamie joined Capilano University after her time with the Whitecaps in order to pursue a future in collegiate athletics.

Outside of her current work with the Capilano Blues, Jamie primarily works in three areas: Junior-level men’s hockey, professional box lacrosse and concussion rehabilitation and research. In 2019 alone, Jamie worked has worked two World Championships (the World Junior Hockey Championships and the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships) assessing musculoskeletal injuries, focusing on athlete rehabilitation and return-to-play decisions and on-field emergency conditions.  Jamie is also published in the 2020 Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation for her work in concussion and cardiovascular conditioning at a clinic solely dedicated to concussion treatment in downtown Vancouver.

Jamie is known for her active and evidence-based approach to rehabilitation where she believes movement is medicine. Research drives her decision-making skills where acute injury management and the full-athlete approach is key to a quick and safe return to sports. She is the current Vice President of the Athletic Therapists Association of B.C. and sees private clients at her clinic in Langley, B.C.
