Trio of All-Stars for Men's Soccer

A trio of players from men's soccer has earned PACWEST All-Star honours for their outstanding work on the pitch this season.

For the second year in a row, defender Andres Romo and striker Adrian Sahagun are on the all-conference team while defender Eric Swanson was named for the first time.

Romo, a 6-foot-4 North Vancouver native, provided a dominant presence on the Blues back end and was a steady influence all season using his range to keep opposing attackers in check. The Blues managed just one win in four games when Romo did not play.

Sahagun, a third-year international from Campeche, Mexico, led PACWEST in goals for the second straight year, tallying eight in 12 games played in 2019.

Swanson, in his second year with the Blues, was tenacious from his fullback position and uses his speed and smarts to neutralize the opposition. The Blues were winless in the two games Swanson was not in the lineup.

The Blues are next in action Friday at Noon in the PACWEST semifinal when they'll face Douglas College. The winner of that game will advance to Saturday's final where Vancouver Island University will be waiting as a result of their bye into the championship game from finishing first in regular-season play.
