Men's volleyball first-year middle blocker Kyle Cook and women's basketbal fifth-year guard Reiko Ohama the Blues Athletes of the Week.

In a weekend sweep of Columbia Bible College, Cook had a breakout showing in a home-and-home set. He played all five sets and racked up 10.5 points of offence in the opener, more than his total for the rest of the season combined. The 6-foot-7 Surrey, BC product hit .636 on nine kills Thursday and added six digs, a solo block and a block assist. Cook featured in each set the next night at home, recording 6.5 points on two solo blocks, an ace and three kills.

Ohama had her best weekend of the season, producing 48 points and helping the Blues upend previously unbeaten Vancouver Island University. The fifth-year native of Kamloops scored 19 points to go along with four assists, three rebounds and a steal in Saturday’s 78-65 win. The 5-foot-5 guard followed that with a season-high 29 points and five assists as VIU took the rematch. Ohama is averaging 17.8 points per game over her last five games.
