After scoring three goals in the 2017 season opener, Keith Jackson of the Capilano University Blues men’s soccer team has been named PACWEST Player of the Week for the conference’s first week of play.
The conference’s leading goal scorer in 2016 – with 11 goals in the regular season and 18 including playoffs – Jackson picked up where he left off to lead Capilano to a 4-1 victory over Langara College on Sunday, September 10.
The fourth-year forward opened the scoring in the ninth minute, and found the back of the net again in the 40th to put the Blues up 3-1. Five minutes into the second half, Jackson darted past two defenders before finishing and completing the hat trick.
One year ago to the date, Jackson also had a hat trick in the 2016 season opener against Langara. He was subsequently named PACWEST Player of the Week 1 last year as well, and also took home the honours in weeks 3 and 7. Later in the season, Jackson was named a CCAA All-Canadian and CCAA Academic All-Canadian.
In the first edition of the CCAA National Rankings, the Capilano men’s soccer team is ranked 5th in the nation.
