The Capilano University Blues men’s soccer team couldn’t hold on to a two-goal lead against Langara College on Sunday evening, settling for a 2-2 draw and a single point.

CapU took a 2-0 lead into halftime thanks to the top two goal scorers in the PACWEST, Keith Jackson and Adrian Sahagun. Jackson scored his league-leading ninth goal in the eighth minute when he forced a steal and made no mistake into the open cage, and nearly had another goal shortly after when his shot on a partial breakaway went just high.

A couple minutes before the first half expired, Sahagun scored his seventh of the season on a blistering volley from the left wing that beat the keeper on the short side.

The Falcons got on the board in the 53rd minute when a free kick found the foot of James Millar, who tipped it in for his first goal of the year. The Blues responded with a number of quality chances in the Langara box, but couldn’t restore the two-goal lead.

Langara made Capilano pay right before regulation time ended, as Emmanuel Ekeh tied the game with a hard strike from the right wing in the 85th minute.

With the 2-2 draw, Capilano settles for the single point and now sits at 4-1-2 and 14 points — three back of first-place Douglas College with a game in hand. The Blues and Falcons square off again on Thursday night at Fox Field at Simon Fraser University, which is a make-up for the postponed game on September 15. Kick-off for Thursday’s game is at 5:30pm.
