Brent Mutis has been named the new Sport Information and Compliance Officer for the Capilano University Blues. Brent’s main responsibility will be sports information/communications, athletic compliance, academic support, and assist with marketing/promotions for both athletics and recreation programming. Brent’s resume includes working in the communications and game operations departments of BC Hockey League (BCHL), and many years of covering the Vancouver Canadians and University of British Columbia Thunderbirds Baseball.
“After a wide and extensive search, we are excited to bring Brent on board. He brings a solid mix of professional and technical knowledge backed by a passion and love for sport and journalism. Brent brings a firm understanding of University sport and the media. Having been involved in strong athletic programs at the university level, he will be bringing this experience to Capilano University and help the athletic program excel as well as elevate the student success at the university” said Milt Williams, Manager of the Department of Athletics and Recreation.

I’m excited to work with Capilano’s student-athletes, coaches and staff to help the Blues continue to excel both on and off the playing field/court. I look forward to working with the PACWEST, CCAA and their member schools to help student-athletes achieve both academic and athletic success,” said Mutis.
Brent attended Terry Fox high school and later attended Douglas College and Langara College where he received a certificate in Journalism. Brent played varsity baseball at the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At UBC, he covered webcast play-by-play for the UBC Baseball and later did the play-by-play for the Vancouver Canadians who are a minor league baseball affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Mutis has filled the role as BC hockey League Communication Coordinator for the past 8 years where he was responsible for web content, social media content, media relations, administration, and publications.
