For the second time this season and the third time in her Blues career, Reiko Ohama is the best in the PACWEST for the week.
The fifth-year guard from Kamloops was named the conference's Athlete of the Week after she produced 40 points in a pair of wins at Langara this past weekend.
She hit from downtown four times in each game, shooting 47.1% from three-point range. The 5-foot-5 Arts & Sciences student grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists in Friday’s win, grabbed four boards and swiped two steals on Saturday.
This is the fourth Athlete of the Week nod for Blues women's hoops this season. In addition to Ohama's first recognition this year on Jan. 25, Emma Cunningham earned one Nov. 14, Kate Mallette took it on Jan. 22 and Sherrie Errico got one on Feb. 3.
Ohama and the Blues are back in action this week as CapU hosts the PACWEST provincial championships. Capilano, the No. 2-seeded team, has a bye through to the semifinals where they will play the winner of the Douglas College-Okanagan College game.
Friday's game is a 12:30 p.m. start at the Centre for Sport and Wellness.
