The Capilano University Blues women's volleyball team has signed their first two recruits for the 2016-2017 season and head coach Cal Wohlford is excited about their potential!
MaKenna Cleveland is a 5'11 outside hitter who joins the Blues from Kamloops, BC where she played for the Jr. Heat and attended Sahali Secondary. Cleveland helped lead her team to become the 2015 AAA high school provincial champions and earned a 1st team all-star at the event. Not only is Cleveland a stellar athlete, she has been on the honour roll continuously since grade 8 and was awarded Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2013-2014, as well as Excellence in Biology and Chemistry 2014-2015. Cleveland is looking to pursue a career in Psychiatric Nursing after her playing days are over. Wohlford sees Cleveland's leadership skills as one of her greatest attributes that she will bring to the Blues women's volleyball program, "her strength is being the team leader, rallying her team and is overall very consistent. I see her taking on her role and becoming one of our leaders."
Faith Aziz is a 6'1 middle blocker who joins the Blues from Surrey, BC, where she attended Sullivan Heights Secondary and played for the Infinity volleyball club. Aziz's athletic goals are to play professionally overseas and academically she would like to pursue a career in journalism. Wohlford says Faith "is very athletic, competitive and has a strong determination to get better. She is a quick learner and able to apply the direction that she receives immediately."
Wohlford is thrilled about the potential of the two recruits and their ability to have an immediate impact on the team.
