Blues bolster roster with strong recruiting class

The Capilano University Blues women's volleyball team are coming off an outstanding 2015-2016 season after finishing with a PACWEST bronze medal. The Blues look to be in excellent shape for next season with most of their team returning and the addition of a stellar recruiting class full of experienced CIS transfers and high school seniors. After signing two recruits earlier this year, MaKenna Cleveland and Faith Aziz, the Blues welcome another seven to help bolster the squad for next year.

Tyneille Neufeld is a 5'9" libero/outside hitter who brings a wealth of experience as she has already competed at the CIS level for two seasons. Neufeld is working towards her Bachelor of Business Administration degree and hopes to become a CCAA Academic All-Canadian during her time at Cap.

Anika Kolybaba is a 6'0" rightside hitter and middle who is an extremely versatile left-handed player. Kolybaba comes to Cap from Prince George where she received numerous all-star awards and was on the honour roll/principal's list throughout her high school career.

Isabella Cheung is a 5'10" outside hitter from Moscrop Secondary School in Burnaby, BC. Cheung was named a second team all-star at the BC Girl's AAAA Volleyball Provincials in 2014 and Moscrop Athlete of the Year for the 2012-2013 season.

Taya Mikado is a 5'10" outside/rightside hitter from Lethbridge, Alberta and is a very dynamic athlete due to her experience playing several sports at a high level including: basketball, badminton, slowpitch and kickboxing.  Mikado has been on the academic honour roll since Grade 7 and was the volleyball captain, league all-star and team MVP this past year.

Tracy Ewashkiw is a 5'7 libero/outside hitter from Thorsby, Alberta where she played both beach and court volleyball. Tracy has an impressive resume after winning a national championship in 2012 and a gold medal at the Alberta Summer Games in 2014.

Trina Ewashkiw is a 5'7 setter who also hails from Thorsby, Alberta, and like her twin sister she had a successful beach/court volleyball career, winning a national championship in 2012 along with a gold medal at the Alberta Summer Games in 2014. Trina was named the valedictorian of her high school this year.

Kelsi Boroevich is a 5'10" leftside hitter from Burnaby, BC who is returning to the Blues' roster after spending last season competing at the CIS level for Brock University. Boroevich will be entering her final year of eligibility having previously competing for the Blues from 2012-2015.
