Watch a night of Blues volleyball this season and it's clear two big hitters on the outside are Meghan Koven and Rafael Hilario.
The pair respectively lead their teams in total kills this season and each added to their numbers in a big way last weekend against the visiting College of the Rockies (COTR) Avalanche.
Koven, the Blues fifth-year captain, racked up 24 kills and 26.5 points of total offence as the Blues split a weekend set against the COTR. The 5-foot-10 North Vancouver native had 12 kills both nights and in the win on Sunday she added 13 digs and a block assist. Koven had two service aces for the weekend and 22 total digs. She leads the Blues in kills per set and digs per set this season.
Hilario, the outside hitter from Brazil, had nine kills in each match as the Blues picked up two straight-sets wins over COTR to run their win streak to 11. Hilario recorded 23 points of total offence including 13.5 points in the weekend opener. The 6-foot-3 international hit .444 over the two-game set and added four service aces, 10 digs and two block assists. Hilario leads the Blues in total kills this season with 140.
