The Blues Department of Athletics and Recreation recognized Thursday night the scholastic and career achievements of many student-athletes in a virtual awards presentation broadcast live on YouTube.

With no competition taking place in any sport for the past year, the awards focused on academic achievement.
The Blues Female Scholar Athlete of the Year for 2020-21 is Alanah Dulong of women's soccer. On the men's side, it's Enis Besirevic of men's volleyball. Both are studying business administration at CapU.
For Team Academic Achievement, Blues women's volleyball earned the award as they carried a collective grade-point average (GPA) of 3.36 in the Fall 2020 semester. The win for women's volleyball interupts a string of four consecutive Team Academic Achievement awards won by women's basketball heading into this year.
There were 15 student athletes recognized with the PACWEST Academic Excellence Award for having a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or better over the last three semesters.
In the category of Scholar Athletes of Distinction, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.50 or better in the Fall 2020 semester. In all, 42 Blues made the grade.
The awards highlighted 27 student-athletes as Scholar Athlete Honourable Mention recipients.
Three student-athletes graduate the Blues family in 2021 and each were honoured on Thursday.
Grady Huskisson spent five years with the men's basketball team, winning a PACWEST silver medal in 2017 and earning a Blues Scholar Athlete of Distinction Award in 2021.
Mehar Waraich played her entire university soccer career in Blues colours, winning three PACWEST silver medals and a CCAA National Scholar Award in 2020.
Jessic Price was teammates with Waraich on women's soccer and concludes her Blue career with three PACWEST silver medals and twice she was named the Top Defender at the PACWEST championships. Price earned a Scholar Athlete of Distinction Award in 2021.
