CapU Department of Athletics
Ready to jump-start the summer? Join us for the CapU Rec Summit Challenge! From July 10–20, 2020, you'll have 10 days to record and take a picture of our favourite B.C. hike. Participate for a chance to win a Fitbit Inspire HR!
What counts as a hike? For this challenge, a hike is a walk that:
- should be done outdoors;
- is at least 30-minutes in duration; and
- gets you into nature, which benefits your photo contest entry!
How to participate?
To be eligible to win a Fitbit Inspire HR, you must:
- join the CapU Virtual Run Club on Strava;
- use the Strava app to record your hike during the week of July 10–20, 2020;
- name your hike "CapU Rec Summit Challenge";
- post at least one photo from your hike on Strava; and
- be a Capilano University student or employee.
After you finish recording your hike, the Strava app will automatically log your workout on the CapU Virtual Run Club page and give you the option to post photos and name your activity.
At the end of the event, we will choose our favourite scenic photo out of all the entries that meet the above criteria. Bonus points will be awarded for those who share photos on social media, tagging @capilanoblues and using the hashtag #CapURecSummitChallenge.
Your health and safety
Remember to maintain social distancing while participating and only hike where it is safe to do so. Ensure any parks you travel to are open for visitors and that you have sufficient footwear, bear safety gear, food and water and a hiking buddy with you. Some hikes may be busier than others so it's best to do some research before you go.
If you chose to participate in the CapU Rec Summit Challenge, you do so at your own risk and acknowledge that hiking carries an inherent risk of physical injury, particularly if you have a history of health problems or previous injuries. Choose a hike suitable for your current ability and fitness level.
