Tyrone Asenoguan and Mackenzie Smith earn Athlete of the Week honours.
Tyrone Asenoguan is the Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the Week.
The 6-foot-3 guard totalled 36 points and 13 rebounds in helping the Blues to a pair of wins to finish up 2022.
Asenoguan came off the bench to score 20 on 8-of-13 shooting at Douglas College Thursday while handing out six assists and pulling down five boards. At home Friday against Okanagan College, the third-year product of Vancouver went for 16 points, which included a spectacular 360 dunk, while also swiping three steals and grabbing eight rebounds.
Mackenzie Smith is the Capilano University Blues women’s Athlete of the Week.
Smith came within a basket of consecutive double-doubles in helping CapU to wins over Douglas College and Okanagan College. The 6-foot-3 post player had season-bests with 15 points and 14 rebounds in a 63-55 win at Douglas Thursday and came back the next night at home with eight points and 11 boards, including five on the offensive glass, in a convincing victory.
For the week, Smith had 23 points, 25 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
