The Camosun College Chargers are the CCAA’s No. 1-ranked team and have dropped just three sets to this point in the season.
The Capilano Blues came as close as anyone has this year to taking one off the Chargers but came up short in a pair of 3-0 setbacks at Camosun this past weekend.
The home took the first two sets convincingly Friday but the Blues mounted a response in the third set, forcing it to extra points before the Chargers claimed it by a 28-26 count.
Colby Soolsma was effective for CapU Friday, notching 10 kills while picking up two aces.
The Blues were done in by some poor results on first touch as they made 15 reception errors compared to just three for Camosun.
Jesse Lee was held in check Friday but looked more like himself in Saturday’s game as he registered 10 kills and two aces. Despite his work, Camosun again took it in straight sets.
Jenson Yuen also had a pair of aces Saturday to go along with 23 assists. The fourth-year setter also managed three kills over the weekend.
Capilano continues its intense travel schedule early in the PACWEST Season as the team is off to Cranbrook, B.C for a Friday-Saturday set at the College of the Rockies. Friday’s game is an 8 p.m. start and Saturday’s game gets going at 3 p.m.
The Blues next home game are Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 as Columbia Bible College comes to CapU. Games start at 8 p.m. both nights.
