Meagan Briggs made it back-to-back double-doubles with 14 point and 10 rebounds as the Capilano Blues defeated the host Columbia Bible College Bearcats 90-42 Saturday night.
Briggs grabbed half her boards in a dominant third quarter that saw the Blues turn their 19-point lead into a 30-plus point advantage. The native of Redding, Calif. filled her stat line with three steals and three assists on the night, just 24 hours after getting 12 points and 11 boards in a big Blues win over CCAA No. 1-ranked Vancouver Island University (VIU).
Capilano had a balanced offence Saturday with Ida Jonsson-Ojala, Teigan Manson and Kirsten Abo also scoring in double digits. Maddy Coffin scored a career-high 13 coming off the bench while Venica Davignon handed out four assists in a reserve role as well.
On Friday at VIU, Abo scored 10 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter to help the Blues pull away and defeat the previously unbeaten Mariners 61-55.

Both teams struggled to score the basketball Friday, especially early on. In the second quarter, the teams combined for just 15 points and it was the home side that went to halftime with a 27-21 lead.
CapU bit into the lead in the third with Coffin gathering all her stats for the night, scoring four points to go along with two rebounds and two steals. The final quarter belonged to the Blues with Manson drilling both her threes for the game and Mackenzie Smith scoring five of her seven points. Abo went 7-of-9 from the free throw line to seal the game.
Capilano plays at Douglas College on Thursday, Dec. 1 and they play their final game before the exam and holiday break when they host Okanagan College in a 6 p.m. start on Friday, Dec. 2.
