A pair of returning Blues earn the first Athlete of the Week honours for the 2024-25 season.
Kai Belbin is the Capilano University Blues women’s soccer Athlete of the Week.
The Nanaimo native handled significant minutes for the Blues in both games and set up the Blues lone goal of the weekend.
Belbin directed a pair of shots on goal in Saturday’s home loss to Douglas and in Sunday’s rematch, her long cross eluded the Royals back line and found the right foot of Alex Roed who blasted home Capilano’s first tally of the season.
Sebastian Cirotto is the Capilano University Blues men’s soccer Athlete of the Week.
The second-year forward scored in each game of the PACWEST opening weekend, helping the Blues to a split with defending national champion Douglas College. In Saturday’s 1-0 home win, Cirotto finished a feed from Stefano Dal Sasso early in the second half for the only tally of the game.
On Sunday, the Burnaby native gathered a rebound in the box and slotted it home to start a second-half Blues comeback attempt.
