The Capilano Blues women’s volleyball team extended their impressive winning streak to eight consecutive matches with a 3-0 victory over the Camosun Chargers on Friday night (25-20, 25-20, 25-23). The win was especially meaningful, as it marked the Blues first home game of the new year after an extensive stretch of four straight road games to start 2025.
The match began with the Blues asserting their dominance, taking the first two sets 25-20 and then taking the final set 25-23.
Standout performers Nnya Mbaoma and Abby Betker led the charge for the Blues; Mbaoma led with 17 kills, and Betker with 11 kills. They both showcased their effectiveness, keeping the Chargers on the backfoot all game long. Mollie English also showed off her exceptional playmaking skills, setting up her hitters all night and reigning in over 45 assists.
With the win, the Blues remain firmly positioned second in the PACWEST standings, crucially keeping their distance from Camosun, who are right on their heels in 3rd. The two-game series this weekend is pivotal for both teams as they look to solidify their playoff positions in a tightly contested conference. This could very well be a matchup we see later on in the PACWEST playoffs.
The Blues will look to improve on their already impressive run tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm at home for a rematch against Camosun.
