The Capilano University Blues closed out the season this afternoon with a 3-0 loss (13-25, 19-25, 19-25) to the Vancouver Island University Mariners.
The Blues could rotate through the lineup today, as this game didn't impact the overall standings. The Blues wrap the season in 6th place with a 4-16 record and don't qualify for the PACWEST Volleyball Championship. However, securing one more win than in the previous season.
Despite a challenging season filled with obstacles, there's much to be proud of. This young team showed tremendous growth and resilience, and with their potential, there's plenty to be excited about as they look ahead to next year.
The Blues battled in all three sets but unfortunately couldn't come away with a set win today. However, despite limited experience and a young roster, the Blues showed tremendous heart throughout the season, going toe-to-toe with some of the league's most prominent teams. Their underdog spirit and ability to compete against more seasoned teams is a testament to their growth.
Today's top performers for the Blues were Kingsley Ndu with seven kills and Connor Collinson-Lea with four kills and one ace.
Looking ahead, the Blues are shifting their focus to next season. With a young team and a solid foundation, they have much to build on and will work toward stronger performances in the upcoming year.
That's all for men's volleyball in the 2024-2025 season. They laid a foundation with a young group that can hopefully take off next year.
