A pair of veteran difference makers earn Athletes of the Week recognition.
Abby Betker is the Indigo Park Canada Capilano University Blues women's Athlete of the Week.
The fourth-year outside hitter was a force offensively for Capilano in a weekend sweep of visiting Camosun.
Betker dominated Friday’s match with 19 kills while adding three aces and a block.
In Saturday’s rematch, Betker had nine kills on just 18 swings with three more aces while getting in on three blocks.
For the weekend, the product of Kimberley, BC, totalled 28 kills on 63 attempts with just four attacking errors for a .349 hitting percentage. She added four blocks and six aces.
Peter Li is the Indigo Park Canada Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the Week.
The veteran guard played major minutes and was a primary contributor to the Blues offence as they split the weekend with Langara.
In a rare Thursday home game, Li went for 20 points with seven assists and two steals in 38 minutes of work as the Blues hung on for the victory.
At Langara on Saturday, Li was dialled in from downtown as he drilled eight threes on his way to a game-high 26 points. He added seven boards and a steal in 36 minutes of floor time.
For the weekend, Li had 46 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
