The Capilano Blues closed out the regular season in dominant fashion on Seniors' Night, sweeping the College of the Rockies Avalanche in three straight sets (25–13, 25–21, 25–19) to finish with a historic 19–1 record.
CapU established control early in the first set with Abby Betker leading the charge offensively with 5 kills, out of her game-high 15, and contributing at the block as well. The Blues defensive discipline and ability to convert blocks into offensive plays allowed them to pull away comfortably and take the set 25–13.
The second set proved tighter, with the score remaining close through the middle stretch. However, CapU maintained a steady two-point cushion for much of the frame. Nnya Mboama continued to show her offensive dominance, finishing the night with 15 kills, tying with Betker. Sibby Bos anchored the block, helping to slow COTR’s attacks during crucial rallies. The Blues composure throughout the second set helped them secure the 25–21 win.
In the third set, the Avalanche pushed ahead, but the Blues responded with disciplined serving and relentless attacking. Timely kills from Mboama and Betker combined with strong defense shifted momentum back in CapU’s favour. Annika Kuznik sealed the match and the regular season with an ace to close out the 25–19 victory.
With seniors Anna Liniewski, Stephanie Sung, Kristen Young, Sibby Bos, Nnya Mboama, Aimee Tilley, and Annika Kuznik playing their final regular-season game, the Blues delivered a performance that reflected their consistency, depth, and championship mindset heading into the playoffs.
Next up for the Blues is a match against the Douglas College Royals at the 2026 PACWEST Provincial Volleyball Championship hosted by Columbia Bible College. Game time is 5:30 PM at Columbia Plaza on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026.
