After a fine debut season where he featured on the PACWEST leaderboard in almost all offensive categories, Capilano Blues outside hitter Luke Tiegen has been named a CCAA All-Canadian.
The Abbotsford, B.C. product wrapped up his first Blues season second in the conference in kills with 260. He finished seventh in both total blocks and total aces. Tiegen's 4.06 average total offence per set was fourth-best in the league.
Tiegen joined Capilano this season after having played two USports seasons at UBC-Okanagan plus a year of professional volleyball in Denmark. The 6-foot-9 outside hitter made an immediate impact, becoming a go-to option for the Blues setters. Tiegen's presence at the net helped Capilano back to the PACWEST playoffs this season after three seasons of missing the postseason. Capilano pushed eventual conference champions College of the Rockies (COTR) to five sets in the tournament semifinals but narrowly missed pulling off the upset.
To earn a CCAA All-Canadian honour, athletes must finish in the top-two in conference all-star voting. Tiegen's vote total was second only to PACWEST Player of the Year Dylan Annala of COTR.
