In their Halloween home opener, the Capilano Blues were not spooked by the visiting Camosun College men’s team, securing a decisive victory with a final score of 83-68.
Zach Hamed was a dominant force for the Blues, scoring 25 points, going 7-for-8 from three, and adding 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The first year forward has made an immediate impact, and his talent will undoubtedly continue to shine throughout the season. Fifth-year guards Kash Lang and Peter Li were also pivotal. Lang played all 40 minutes, contributing 19 points, 4 blocks, and 3 steals, while Li added 17 points and orchestrated the offense with 7 assists.
Second-year guard Sukhraj Garcha showcased his physicality, finishing with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Strong contributions from the rest of the roster in scoring, rebounding, and overall effort allowed the Blues to control the game. The victory was especially sweet for head coach TJ Klim, marking his first home opener win leading the Blues.
Before the match, the Blues celebrated their 2024–25 PACWEST Provincial Championship by raising the banner to the ceiling and presenting attending team members with a commemorative gift at the scorer’s table.
With a quick turnaround ahead of tomorrow’s 3 p.m. tip-off at the Center for Sport and Wellness, the Blues are focused on extending their winning streak.
