The Saturday rematch of the Capilano Blues against the visiting Camosun College Chargers was filled with excitement and intensity. However, despite their best efforts, the Blues fell short with a final score of 91-73 favouring the Chargers.
From the opening tip, Capilano showcased its physicality and determination, keeping the game competitive in the early stages.
The Blues dominated the boards, out-rebounding Camosun 34 to 29, and controlled the points in paint with 34 compared to the Chargers’ 28, demonstrating their strength and aggressiveness near the basket.
Zach Klim led the way for Capilano, putting up an impressive 23 points, going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line, and pulling down 6 rebounds. Zach Hamed continued to make his mark with 13 points and 6 rebounds, while guard Kash Lang contributed 13 points.
Rookie Afu Bullock turned heads with 9 points in 17 minutes, scoring through tough, aggressive finishes and relentless effort, hinting at the impact he is poised to have this season.
The entire Blues bench saw the floor tonight, highlighting the depth and versatility of the roster.
Although Saturday ended in a loss, the Blues’ performance over the weekend should not be overlooked. Splitting the series with Camosun is a solid start to the season, providing valuable lessons and confidence as the team builds chemistry and prepares for the challenges ahead.
The Chargers are undoubtedly a team that the Blues will meet again in the playoffs, and with the lessons learned from yesterday and today's match, Capilano has plenty to be confident about.
Looking ahead to next week, the Blues take on the Langara Falcons on Thursday, November 6th at 6 p.m. back at Home (Centre for Sport at Wellness), and then travel to Langara on Saturday, November 8th for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
