A pair of international talents from the Capilano Blues had their efforts recognized with the announcement of the 2026 PACWEST All-Star teams.
Earning a spot on the PACWEST Second All-Star Team is third year forward Barcha Hnizdilova. The product of Czechia averaged 13.4 points and eight rebounds per game. She recorded six double-doubles and went for a season-high 28 points in a Nov. 29 victory over Columbia Bible College. This is the third straight year Hnizdilova has earned a spot on the PACWEST Second All-Star Team.
On the PACWEST All-Rookie Team, Blues first-year import from Spain Lucia Lopez was included after averaging eight points and 5.6 boards per contest despite missing eight games due to injury. The 6-foot-1 forward had a pair of double-doubles, including a 15-point, 11-rebound game Feb. 6 win over then-No. 2-ranked Douglas College.
Hnizdilova, Lopez and the Blues continue their season at the PACWEST Provincial Championship tournament starting Thursday at Camosun College. Capilano faces the host Chargers in a 5:30 p.m. tipoff on Thursday in the quarter-final.
